Chris: We're Workers-Youth United. One of our main goals as an organization is to educate the masses about the problems caused by global capitalism and organize united fronts among the Left to not only fight the symptoms of our ills, but to end the illness itself, global capitalism.
This topic: Injustice.
WHAT IS INJUSTICE?:
Mahmood: What is injustice?
Antonio: That's the burning question.
Alex: What is injustice?
Don or Jannah: Allow us to define it for you.
Jake: Injustice is the unfair treatment of one group by another.
Axel: So what's the big deal? Why are we discussing this?
Antonio: We're going to explain how the injustices of the world are all perpetuated by one socioeconomic system. Capitalism.
All: Capitalism!
GAZA:
Drew: Let’s look at a recent example of injustice.
Axel: The Palestine-Israel conflict of this summer.
Gavin: The conflict where Israel invaded Palestine to destroy the last of the “terrorists.” Let’s look at the facts. Not what the media is saying.
Chris: The pro-Zionist media claims that Hamas has been the instigator of this violence by shooting rockets on to Israeli soil.
Mahmood: But there’s a lot more to it than what the bourgeois media is saying.
Jake: Let’s sit down and look at the facts for a second.
Donald: According to the Gaza Health Ministry…
Alex: The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights…
Antonio: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs…
Don or Jannah: The Intelligence and Terrorism Center…
Axel: And even the Israeli Defense Force…
Gavin: Over 2,000 innocent Palestinian civilians were killed in Israel’s “defense” to get rid of the “terrorists” firing benign rockets into Israel. The amount of Israelis killed in this conflict, you may be asking?
Sheehan: 66 soldiers and 6 civilians, coming from small rockets that Hamas has faced up against the entire Israeli army.
Mahmood: Houses told to be evacuated just 5 minutes before they're destroyed, power plants blown to bits, over a dozen hospitals demolished, Palestinian water wells and sewers poisoned by IDF troops...
Sheehan: We aren’t aligned with Hamas but we also aren’t going to play the game of both sides being equally at fault, one side of this conflict is stealing land and murdering thousands of innocent people all in the pursuit of a political ideology.
Donald: While the other side, Hamas, as anti-Semitic as they may be, are defending the self-determination the Palestinians deserve with the only means they have.
Chris: With the help of the West, "Israel" has been occupying and wiping the palestinians off the face of the earth for over 60 years.
Gavin: And because of this occupation, Israel has made sure that Palestine is not legally allowed to have any official army, navy, or air force.
Jake: Capitalists make the argument of property rights being the most important thing in existence.
Mahmood: Yet all of that goes out the window when Capitalists, in the pursuit of profit, seek to steal the lands of oppressed peoples. Does the colonial genocide of 100 million Native Americans ring a bell?
Antonio: And simply because of Jewish chauvinistic nationalism? Genocide is justified because of nationalism?
All: Where have we heard that before?
Chris: And before you call us anti-semitic, the Palestinian people are just as semitic.
Drew: So wouldn't that make the IDF anti-semitic or Netanyahu?
All: Capitalism perpetuates these kinds of behavior!
Mahmood: Look at the countless corporate interest in Israel.
Chris: National liberation of the Palestinian people threatens private property rights so violence against them is justified.
All: Capitalism is inhumane!
CAUSES OF INJUSTICE:
Sheehan: So what's the cause of injustice?
The examples of injustice on both a large and a small-scale are numerous, but what are the root causes? Well for one, some of the basic pretenses of capitalism require it.
Chris: Capitalism necessitates injustice.
Gavin:Capitalism has and always will always necessitate injustice.
Donald Irons:
Mahmood: Capitalism necessitates injustice...
Donald Irons: Because it encourages its participants on both an individual and corporate level to adopt a mentality of acquiring greater economic power.
Axel: Being that injustice is rooted in hierarchy, as is capitalism, it is not hard to conclude that the tyranny comes from above.
Gavin: The tyranny clearly comes from above!
Donald: The power of capitalism requires the acquisition and usage of resources especially on a corporate level that is infinite as the growth is encouraged to go on forever. However the world only possess a finite amount of resources with only a miniscule percentage of which that is.
Drew: Nonrenewable resources overmined, yet artificial scarcity keeps millions homeless.
Donald: Not to mention that the distribution of said resources is not even; resources are concentrated in specific places. So you have infinite growth in a world of finite resources with uneven distribution of said resources.
Alex: But what is the result of this?
Donald: Well in the long-term it means the ultimate destruction of humanity as all resources will be used up leaving people to fight desperately for mere crumbs.
Mahmood: Seems to me that global capitalism affects a lot. Whilst the hegemony of the ruling class manufactures the peoples’ consent to it.
Chris: We're barely scratching the surface.
Antonio: Yeah, we aren't even accounting for the usage of resources resulting in ecological destruction...
Sheehan: And resource depletion, leading to war and starvation
Donald: But in the short-term, capitalism directly results in the numerous injustices we see today.
Axel: So, as we have explained both from a systematic perspective and from a specific one on the issue of Palestine, Capitalism produces injustice.
Jake: But has Capitalism produced injustice in the the United States and other western countries?
Gavin: And if so, has it produced racial injustice like many people say it has?
All: Let's give a recent example..
FERGUSON:
Mahmood: Recently, we have been subjected to the clear injustice and unfair treatment of minorities in this country. The forces of reaction so willing to remain the rulers of each and everyone of our lives that they attack other bourgeois, yet hide their tyranny in the open.
Gavin: Right in the open.
Alex: Where everyone can see, but no one wants to believe.
Mahmood: So how does this relate to capitalism you may be asking?
All: Capitalism necessitates injustice!!
Chris: Before we delve further into the topic of Ferguson and how the racial tensions not only in Missouri but nation wide are the direct results of capitalism, lets talk briefly about history.
Jannah: The American government was founded to protect the interests of white landowners. These landowners used black slaves and other peasants and servants to create a profit, after second citizenship was nationally banned, the ruling class still needed a group of people to be their cheap wage slaves. Thus the creation of racist legislation!
Drew: Not to mention the increased police presence in minority areas that protected the oppressed status and served the capitalist interests.
Sheehan: Our government has handed over the useless and excessive military surplus that cost the taxpayers billions to produce to local, often small town, police forces that have been armed with military grade-weapons and armored vehicles.
Alex: Now on to Ferguson. The American police, the brutal defenders of capitalist interests, have targeted minorities 3 million homeless but your point about artificial scarcity still stands. over sixty years now, and it is coming to a boiling point where the ruling class will do anything, even if it means attacking other factions of the ruling class to protect their interests. The military action in Ferguson is a precursor for the degenerate reactions of the capitalists to come.
CLOSING STATEMENTS:
Chris: So, our position in Workers-Youth United on the situations in Gaza and Ferguson….
Jannah: And what the position of the workers, youth, minorities, and all those who are disaffected by Capitalism should be….
Donald: Is that Capitalism has produced these situations.
Drew: Because Capitalism naturally requires subservience and domination.
Mahmood: These situations are all connected by the fact that in the Capitalist mode of production
Alex: The infinite drive for profit in a world with finite resources, leads to murder, imperialism, war, poverty, inequality, racism and all of the social ills facing mankind today.
OUTRO:
Sheehan: Don’t allow capitalism to swallow you and make you another cog, don’t allow it to make you apathetic,
Gavin: passive
Jannah: and obedient.
Sheehan: Turn away from the systemic problems and look for another world, a world where we have freedom,
Axel: Justice
Mahmood: And equality
All: Capitalism
All: Necessitates
All: Injustice
All: From Ferguson to Palestine
All: resistance
All: Is justified
